Interstate 8 Pavement Improvement Project: Milepost 96 to Paloma Road

The Arizona Department of Transportation is working to improve pavement on 10 miles of Interstate 8 within Maricopa County. Work is scheduled to occur between Painted Rock Dam and Paloma roads.

The project began in June 2018 with completion anticipated in spring 2019. The project includes removing asphalt and replacing it smooth rubberized asphalt; installing new guardrail; installing pavement markings; work on the Painted Rock traffic interchange overpass, and other work.

Project Area

The project area is on Interstate 8 from milepost 96 to milepost 106.12

What to expect:
  • I-8 will be narrowed to one lane in each direction in the work zone.
  • Delays are likely. Allow extra travel time.
  • A 12-foot-vehicle width restriction will be in place.
