US 163: Little Capitan Valley Project 


The Arizona Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration are making roadway improvements along a 1-mile stretch of US 163 – approximately 5 miles north of Kayenta – in Little Capitan Valley. 

The purpose of project is to improve storm water drainage during periods of rain.

Work on the $3.75 million project will occur between mileposts 400 and 401 and includes removing the existing pavement; extending the pipe culvert that carries storm water under the roadway; and then repaving.


Work is scheduled to begin March 14, 2018 and continue for approximately six months. Schedules are subject to change based on weather or other unforeseen factors.
