Pavement-preservation work occurring on State Route 260 near Heber-Overgaard through October
The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers in the Mogollon Rim area to plan for possible delays for the next several months on State Route 260 near Heber-Overgaard.
ADOT is doing a chip-seal and slurry seal project on SR 260 -- on both sides of the junction with State Route 277 -- between milepost 303 and 310. The pavement preservation work, which begins Monday, July 8, is being done during daylight hours through Nov. 1, weather permitting.
Drivers headed to and from Heber-Overgaard and the Mogollon Rim area should expect intermittent stops and delays.
East- and westbound SR 260 will be narrowed to one lane in each direction where the work is occurring. Traffic-control personnel and a pilot vehicle will be used, when needed, to stop traffic and guide motorists through the work zone.
The road maintenance work will help preserve the condition of the roadway and extend the life of the pavement.
ADOT reminds drivers to slow down and use caution around construction personnel and equipment.
