Broadway Road Dirt Haul - June 2017

Broadway Road dirt haul beginning June 26, 2017


 
As part of the Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway construction, crews will be hauling approximately 340,000 cubic yards of dirt to build the future freeway at 59th Avenue and Broadway Road. To avoid scrapers and trucks mixing with traffic during peak travel times, the dirt haul operation will take place during off-peak travel times from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for approximately two months.
What to Expect:

 

  • Work will last approximately two months
  • Work hours from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., up to
    5 days per week (actual days may vary)
  • Flagman operation for traffic control
  • Scrapers will be moving dirt on site and
    water trucks will control dust
  • Grading and compaction equipment on site
    to move and compact dirt after dump
  • For safety, back-up alarms will be in use
  • Trucks will travel in a manner that limits the
    use of back-up alarms

Night Dirt Haul - Dobbins Road to Baseline Road and Southern Avenue - June 2017

Night Dirt Haul 59th Avenue from Dobbins to Baseline Road and Southern Avenue Beginning June 26, 2017


 
As part of the Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway construction, crews will be hauling approximately 280,000
cubic yards of dirt from a basin at Dobbins Road to 59th Avenue and Baseline Road and 59th Avenue and
Southern Avenue to build the future freeway. To avoid haul trucks mixing with traffic during peak travel
times on local streets, the dirt haul operation will take place at night beginning in late June 2017.
What to Expect:

 

  • Duration of dirt haul will be approximately
    three months
  • Work hours will be from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., up
    to 6 days per week (actual days may vary)
  • Trucks delivering dirt on site and water
    trucks to control dust
  • Grading and compaction equipment on site
    to move and compact dirt after dumped
  • For safety, back-up alarms and jobsite
    lighting will be in use
  • Trucks will travel in a manner to limit the
    use of back-up alarms

Southern and 59th avenues Construction Yard

Southern and 59th avenues Construction Yard


Connect 202 Partners (C202P), the developer responsible for designing and building the South Mountain Freeway, will establish a construction yard next week at Southern and 59th avenues to store equipment and materials needed for construction of the Salt River bridges. A lined basin will also be constructed onsite to provide water for dust control.
What to Expect:

  • Yard will open mid-January 2017.
  • Construction traffic will access the site from Southern Avenue.
  • Construction traffic will turn north from Southern Avenue onto the existing road west of the power lines.
  • Approximately 10 trucks will be delivering materials daily.
  • Most activity will occur on weekdays from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Early-to Mid 2017 Construction Schedule

The following is the anticipated construction schedule for the Salt River Segment from Lower Buckeye Road southeast to 51st Avenue. Residents will see the following major construction activities starting in early to mid-2017.

Segment Activities:
  • Construct Salt River Bridge
  • Construct box culvert at Laveen Conveyance Channel
  • Construct roadway embankments north of Southern Avenue
