U.S. Route 191 from State Route 266 to U.S. Route 70

The Arizona Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration have completed a study to identify options for the potential future realignment of US 191 between SR 266 and US 70 in Graham County.

Two alternate corridors were selected during the study. The next phase will be a Design Concept Report to evaluate the remaining options further and to determine which route a new alignment of US 191 would take within the selected corridor.

A third remaining option is to not construct a new alignment.

This is a long-range study designed to address anticipated growth in the Gila Valley, including the communities of Safford, Thatcher and Pima. Working with local agencies and members of the community, the ADOT team has developed recommended alternative corridors for further evaluation and refinement.
