Loop 101: Maryland Avenue HOV Ramps
The HOV ramp is located in Maricopa County on a portion of the Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway) from Bethany Home Road to Glendale Avenue. In a partnership with the city of Glendale, ADOT added new Loop 101 HOV lane on- and off-ramps to connect with the existing Maryland Avenue overpass near Westgate City Center and the city's professional sports facilities. The project also includes a new traffic signal where the HOV ramps meet on Maryland Avenue.
The Design-Build method of contracting has been selected as the best alternative for this project as it will provide the greatest benefits to the general public. Design-Build will prove beneficial by accelerating the completion of improvements on this important traffic corridor.
Construction for Maryland Avenue HOV north- and southbound ramps began early October 2013 and was completed in March 2014.
The Loop 101 Maryland Avenue HOV ramp project is partly funded through Statewide Acceleration Needs (STAN), an account established by the state legislature in 2005, and MAG Regional Transportation Plan funding passed by Maricopa County voters in 2004 through Proposition 400.
Our Valley Freeway System is part of the 2004 voter-approved Regional Transportation Plan. We are working hard with our transit partners to implement the voters' vision and are committed to quality, safety, open communication with our neighbors and minimal inconvenience to the traveling public.
