Project Overview

Mohave County, in partnership with the Federal Highway Administration and the Arizona Department of Transportation, is preparing to construct a Prefabricated Bridge Element (PBE) on Oatman Highway along Route 66 over the Sacramento Wash in Topock, one mile north of Interstate 40.

The new single-span bridge and roadway improvements will be constructed on the existing alignment. A temporary full road closure at Exit 1 on I-40 will be in place for four days during the installation, from 12:01 a.m. March 13, to 12:01 a.m. on March 16. Motorists will be detoured 24 miles through Needles, CA.

Mohave County received a $1 million FHWA Accelerated Innovation Deployment Discretionary Grant toward the $1.8 million project. The bridge will provide an approximate 110-foot clear span that will pass the two-year, 30-minute storm event.
