Work to replace the Del Rio bridge is underway as well as the replacement and widening of the Big Chino Wash bridge on SR 89, approximately eight miles north of Chino valley, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
For the next five months, SR 89 will be under construction in both locations. The work zone at the Big Chino Wash bridge is narrowed to one lane for seven days a week, 24 hours a day. A temporary signal is in place at both ends of the bridge and the speed limit has been reduced to 25 mph to allow drivers to travel safely through the work zone. The Del Rio bridge has a detour in place to safely guide drivers around the work zone.
Drivers can expect possible delays of up to 15 minutes. Drivers should use extreme caution when workers are present on the bridge.
The work zone will be clearly marked by temporary barricades and signage. ADOT advises drivers to allow additional time to reach their destinations and to proceed through the work zone with caution, to comply with the reduced speed limit and to be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
