Interstate 40 Eastbound, Canyon Padre Bridge Bridge Deck Replacement and Roadway Improvements

The Arizona Department of Transportation begins a construction project in May 2014 to replace the eastbound deck of Canyon Padre Bridge located on I-40 about 22 miles east of Flagstaff (milepost 218).

Construction includes removing and replacing the eastbound deck and support, installing guardrail, resurfacing the roadway, and striping. Travel will be reduced to one lane in each direction during construction. To provide for eastbound travel, a temporary median crossover will be built to divert vehicles onto the westbound side of the interstate. In addition, a temporary off-ramp will be provided for eastbound travel exiting at Twin Arrows (Exit 219). Once the bridge deck construction is completed, the temporary median crossover and off-ramp will be removed and median areas will be restored. The project is anticipated to be completed fall 2014.
