The work includes repaving with rubberized asphalt, replacing guardrails, installing a traffic counter system and other improvements along the six-mile stretch of I-17. The project is anticipated to be complete in late fall 2013.
Paving work will begin on northbound I-17 between SR 179 (Sedona turnoff) and Stoneman Lake Road as roadway improvements progress.
Guardrail work through the project area has been underway since June, and the next step is to mill and repave the entire six-mile stretch of I-17. In late August, rubberized asphalt will be placed along the corridor.
Starting Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013, lane restrictions will be required when crews begin paving. Work will take place from 5:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday to Friday for approximately six weeks.
