The following is the result of changes to Arizona law effective May 5, 2009.

Phoenix Suns Plate - A new Phoenix Suns license plate is available beginning May 5, 2009. No requirements. Available to everyone. $17 goes to the Phoenix Suns Charities for youth education and development, college scholarship programs and community development.

Also available with a disability symbol (requires disability application form #96-0104 unless eligibility currently established).

May be personalized for an additional $25 initial application and annual renewal fee (requires Special Plate Application form #96-0143 unless ordered online).

Choose Life Plate - A new Choose Life license plate is available beginning May 5, 2009. Must complete an application with the Arizona Life Coalition. Application available online. Additional information at:

The following is the result of changes to Arizona law effective January 01, 2009

Arizona Game and Fish Department

Off-Highway Vehicle Decal - A new off-highway vehicle decal is required to be purchased each year for operation of any vehicle operated on unimproved roads, trails and approved use areas not suitable for conventional two-wheel-drive vehicular travel. Examples include: All-Terrain Vehicles (ATV), trail motorcycles and dirt bikes. This does not apply to pickup trucks, SUVs, cars and other recreational vehicles. Arizona Highways Plate - A new Arizona Highways license plate is available February 1, 2009. No requirements. Available to everyone. $17 goes to the Arizona Highways magazine.

Also available with a disability symbol (requires disability application form #96-0104 unless eligibility currently established).

May be personalized for an additional $25 initial application and annual renewal fee (requires Special Plate Application form #96-0143 unless ordered online).

The following is the result of changes to Arizona law.

Gold Star Family Plate - A new Gold Star Family license plate is available February 1, 2009. Applicant must be a spouse or (by adoption or blood) a child, parent, brother or sister of a person who lost his/her life while on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces. $17 goes to benefit immediate family members of any person who lost his/her life while on active duty.

Also available with a disability symbol (requires disability application form #96-0104 unless eligibility currently established).

May be personalized for an additional $25 initial application and annual renewal fee (requires Special Plate Application form #96-0143 unless ordered online).

The following is the result of changes made by the Department of Environmental Quality effective January 02, 2009

Pima County Emissions Testing - For most vehicles, the On-Board Diagnostics emissions test in Pima County will be valid for two years. For vehicles subject to this test in Pima County, half will be tested in 2009 and the other half in 2010, based on vehicle identification number. Most vehicles will not require a test again for two years. Look for "Emissions Test Required" on your registration renewal notice. The following is the result of changes to Arizona law effective January 01, 2009

License Plate Holder Law - State law* requires that the state name at the top of Arizona license plates must be visible. Any license plate holder or cover that prevents the license plate from being clearly legible, is in violation of this new law.
