ADOT’s Adopt a Highway program gets endorsement from loyal volunteer

Everywhere we travel, it’s there. Unfortunately litter along our state highways is a reality. Maintenance crews from the Arizona Department of Transportation pick up trash and debris every day from our roadways, but ADOT also relies on a special army of volunteers to help with the rest through our Adopt a Highway program.

There are more than 10,000 Adopt a Highway volunteers statewide who are committed to cleaning up designated sections of Arizona highways four times a year. Mike Bibb, a columnist for the Eastern Arizona Courier, is one of them. His column about his experiences through Adopt a Highway was published on August 28 in the Courier. It details the benefits of the program, along with his humorous take on some of the interesting things he encounters while performing his litter pickup duties.

You can read the entire column in the Eastern Arizona Courier.
