KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: INTERSTATE 17 CLOSURES IN NORTH PHOENIX SCHEDULED IN JUNE 2012 FOR PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE PROJECT
Drivers on I-17 should plan for 18-mile detour overnight Friday June 1 and overnight Friday June 8
Interstate 17 and the frontage road are scheduled to be closed one direction at a time over two weekends in June as crews set the spans for a pedestrian bridge over the freeway near Happy Valley Road on the south side of the CAP Canal. For mor information download the project flier and map, or watch our PSA. Here's what you need to know:
Dates and Location of closures:
- Northbound Interstate 17 closed between from Happy Valley Road and Loop 303 from 11:30 p.m. Friday June 1 to 4 a.m. Saturday June 2
- Southbound Interstate 17 closed between from Loop 303 and Happy Valley Road from 11:30 p.m. Friday June 8 to 4 a.m. Saturday June 9
- North- and southbound I-17 will NOT be closed at the same time
Detours:
- NOTE: Drivers will use an 18-mile detour around the work zone. Be sure you are well rested and have enough fuel in your vehicle. Services are limited on the detour route.
- Northbound drivers: Exit at Happy Valley Road westbound to Lake Pleasant Parkway northbound to Loop 303 eastbound to re-connect with I-17
- Southbound drivers: Exit at Loop 303 westbound to Lake Pleasant Parkway southbound to Happy Valley Road eastbound to re-connect with I-17
- Accommodations will be in place for LOCAL TRAFFIC. All other motorists on I-17 will use the 18-mile detour noted above.
