US 191B Realignment Study

The Arizona Department of Transportation has been working on a study to identify a new route for US 191B in Douglas. A new alignment for US 191B would link the expanded Port of Entry with State Route 80 and take commercial international truck traffic off the existing US 191B – known locally as Pan American Avenue – which passes through a busy Douglas retail district.

The Arizona Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration have agreed to cancel the US 191B Realignment Study pending completion of the Arizona-Sonora Border Master Plan study and future decisions by the United States and Mexico regarding improvement projects at international ports of entry on the Arizona-Sonora border.

ADOT and the City of Douglas will continue to work on local projects to move traffic off Pan American onto Chino Road to reduce congestion at the current international Port of Entry.
