State Route 77 Aravaipa Bridge Replacement Project

Project Overview

The Arizona Department of Transportation is planning a bridge replacement project on the Aravaipa Creek Bridge on State Route 77 (milepost 123.52) approximately 10 miles north of Mammoth in Pinal County. The project will also include minor roadway improvements between mileposts 123 and 124.

The Aravaipa Creek Bridge replacement project includes widening the bridge and replacing the bridge deck, piers and abutments.

Timeline

Construction is anticipated to begin in the fall of 2013 and is expected to take approximately 12 months.

What to Expect

  • The bridge will be built in two phases, allowing traffic to be maintained throughout construction.
  • Temporary traffic signals will be installed at both ends of the bridge and will be periodically adjusted to efficiently move traffic across the bridge.
  • One travel lane will remain open at all times, and traffic controls will allow alternating northbound and southbound traffic.
  • Drivers can anticipate delays of five to ten minutes, but no more than 15 minutes throughout construction.
