Repairs to Interstate 8 in Yuma continue next week

Drivers should plan ahead and allow extra travel time

YUMA — Work to repair sections of the pavement on Interstate 8 in Yuma from the California/Arizona border to Fortuna Road will continue the week of March 12, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. The following restrictions will be in effect:

  • The eastbound off-ramp at Araby Road (Exit 7) will be closed from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday (March 12).
  • There will be one lane closed on eastbound and westbound I-8 at 16th Street from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday (March 12) through Friday (March 16).

Message boards and barricades will advise drivers of restrictions.

No work is scheduled on holidays or weekends. This project is scheduled to be completed by April 2012.

ADOT advises drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.

ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule.
