Sentinel Rest Area Closed for water system repairs

Motorists advised to plan ahead and use alternate facilities

March 1, 2012

YUMA — The eastbound Sentinel rest area along Interstate 8 west of Gila Bend is closed for emergency repairs to the water system, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

The eastbound facilities will be closed until repairs are complete. Westbound facilities are not affected and remain open.

Water is a key component of the operation of a rest area. Water is needed to operate the restroom facilities, the septic system and the drinking fountains as well as provide for the needs of the caretakers who live on site.
