Maintenance along Interstate 8 in Yuma continues at Araby Road

Daily ramp closures scheduled for approximately two weeks

February 28, 2012

The Arizona Department of Transportation is repairing erosion control features along Interstate 8 in Yuma from the California/Arizona border to Fortuna Road. The work will move from Avenue 3E to Araby Road beginning Thursday (March 1).

Crews will be completing rock work along the eastbound Araby Road ramps (Exit 7) and will close the ramps during work hours for the next two weeks. The rocks are being placed to prevent water and debris from spilling onto the ramps.

In an effort to accommodate commuters, daily ramp closures are scheduled as follows:

  • The eastbound on-ramp will be closed from 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday
  • The eastbound off-ramp will be closed from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Message boards and barricades will advise drivers of ramp restrictions.

No work is scheduled on holidays or weekends. This project is scheduled to be completed by April 2012.

ADOT advises drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.

ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule.
