The Transportation Enhancement (TE) program was developed to enhance surface transportation activities by developing projects that go above and beyond what transportation departments typically do.

The TE program was made possible by Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act of 1991 (ISTEA), reauthorized in 1998 under the Transportation Equity Act for the 21st Century (TEA-21), and SAFETEA-LU re-authorization by the current U.S. congressional session.

This Web site is intended to guide sponsors through the funding application and project development process. The needed guidance to apply for and develop an enhancement project is available on this Web site.

ADOT has entered into it next funding cycle which is called Round 19. The application deadline passed in July 2012. The application review is presently on hold, pending guidance on the recently passed federal transportation bill (MAP-21). Please continue to visit this TE Web site for further updates.
