Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs) are regional organizations that plan transportation improvements on a more urbanized basis. Councils of Governments (COGs) are associations of local governments that work together to address issues that affect all the communities in a common geographic area.
Role of the MPO/COG
The local MPO/COG will be the principal contact for sponsors
wishing to apply for Transportation Enhancement funding. The
MPO/COG will guide the sponsor from project idea through completing
the project application.
The people who are developing the ideas - whether it be
a government entity, group, or individual - must first submit
their ideas to their local MPO or COG representative. The
MPO/COG will evaluate your idea and provide advice regarding
appropriate sponsorship for your project.
