Night work on I-17 at Cordes Junction next week

Lane closures on I-17 and State Route 69 expected during work hours

November 10, 2011

As part of a $50 million project to reconstruct the Cordes Junction traffic interchange, the Arizona Department of Transportation will continue night work on Interstate 17 and State Route 69 that will require several closures and restrictions next week.

  • Northbound I-17 narrowed to one lane from 7 p.m. Monday (Nov. 14) to 6 a.m. Thursday (Nov. 17) as crews prepare to pave a median crossover in preparation for a traffic shift on southbound I-17.
  • Southbound I-17 narrowed to one lane from 7 p.m. Monday (Nov. 14) to 6 a.m. Thursday (Nov. 17).
  • Southbound SR 69 narrowed to one lane from 7 p.m. Wednesday (Nov. 16) to 6 a.m. Thursday (Nov. 17) as crews will be placing concrete barrier and restriping SR 69 approaching I-17.
  • Northbound SR 69 narrowed to one lane periodically from 7 p.m. Thursday (Nov. 17) to 6 a.m. Friday (Nov. 18) as crews continue placing barrier and restriping the roadway.

As construction work continues at the Cordes Junction traffic interchange, drivers will be required to follow new road alignments on State Route 69 and Interstate 17 in the project work area. ADOT strongly advises drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution, comply with the reduced speed limit and be alert for construction equipment and personnel. The reduced speed limit on SR 69 is 45 mph and on I-17 is reduced to 65 mph.

For the next four months, ADOT advises drivers to be aware of the 11 foot wide lanes at the crossovers along southbound I-17 to provide a safe work zone for crews.
