I-10 narrowed to one lane in both directions between Val Vista Road and Florence Boulevard (State Route 287) from 7 p.m. Thursday (May 10) to 6 a.m. Friday (May 11) for temporary concrete barrier work.

Construction on this I-10 widening project began in January 2011. When completed later this year, I-10 will be widened from two to three lanes in each direction between Val Vista and Earley roads. Road improvements will also be made at McCartney Road and Florence Boulevard traffic interchanges, as well as repaving Val Vista Road, Cottonwood Lane, and Earley Road overpasses.

The construction schedule is subject to change due to a variety of reasons, including weather, material availability and mechanical difficulties. ADOT advises drivers to proceed through or near work zones with caution, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
