Construction continues on Interstate 10 widening project at McCartney Road and I-10 near Casa Grande beginning Monday

February 24, 2012

As part of the I-10 widening project near Casa Grande, drivers should be aware of the following planned restrictions to both Interstate 10 and McCartney Road next week:

Eastbound Interstate 10 narrowed to one lane between mileposts 190-191 near McCartney Road from 7 p.m. Monday (Feb. 27) to 6 a.m. Tuesday (Feb. 28) for removal of temporary concrete barrier.

McCartney Road Overpass at I-10 will have intermittent closures daily from 7 a.m. Monday (Feb. 27) to 3:30 p.m. Thursday (March 1) for curb installation. Construction crews will be directing motorists through the single open lane in the construction area. Drivers should plan ahead and be prepared for delays.

Construction on this 10-mile Interstate 10 widening project began in January 2011. Once completed in late 2012, Interstate 10 will be widened from two to three lanes in each direction between Val Vista and Earley roads. Road improvements will also be made at McCartney Rd. and Florence Blvd. traffic interchanges, as well as repaving at Val Vista Rd., Cottonwood Ln., and Earley Rd. overpasses.

The construction schedule is subject to change due to a variety of reasons, including weather, material availability and mechanical difficulties. ADOT advises drivers to proceed through or near work zones with caution, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
