Motorists on Interstate 10 near Benson can expect continued travel restrictions next week while the Arizona Department of Transportation constructs new eastbound lanes near the junction with State Route 90.
The following restrictions are scheduled for the week:
- The left lane of westbound I-10 will be closed from 2 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday (March 26) from the junction with State Route 80 (Exit 303) to the junction with State Route 90 (Exit 302) to allow crews to remove a concrete barrier wall and relocate it adjacent to the eastbound lanes.
- The left lane of eastbound I-10 will be closed from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday (March 26) and Tuesday (March 27) from the SR 90 overpass (Exit 302) to the State Route 80 off ramp (Exit 303) to allow construction vehicles to enter and exit the median.
- The left lane of eastbound I-10 will be closed from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. Wednesday (March 28) from one mile west of the junction of SR 90 to the overpass at Exit 302 to provide access for construction vehicles.
- The left lane of westbound I-10 will be closed from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Thursday (March 29), Friday (March 30) and Monday (April 2) from the SR 90 overpass and continuing for one mile to the west, also to allow construction vehicles access to the median where the new lanes are being built.
The work is part of the on-going $27.6 million ADOT project to reconstruct the I-10 overpass bridge at SR 90, replace a curving segment of I-10 west of the interchange and make improvements to State Route 90 near the interstate.
ADOT advises drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule.
