Noise Abatement Policy
This policy should be utilized for all ADOT reviewed or approved
construction projects for which the noise study was initiated
on or after the policy effective date. Consult the EPG Air and
Noise Team prior to utilizing this policy in the preparation of
any noise analysis. This policy became effective on July 13, 2011,
and supersedes the previous Noise Abatement Policy dated December
5, 2005 and amended August 24, 2007.

ADOT Noise Abatement Policy / Addendum
This policy is published solely for informational purposes and
may only be utilized for those projects for which a noise study
was initiated prior to July 13, 2011. Consult the EPG Air and
Noise Team prior to utilizing this policy in the preparation of
any noise analysis for an ADOT-managed or approved project. This
policy became effective on December 5, 2005, and supersedes the
previous Noise Abatement Policy dated March 31, 2000. An addendum
to the noise policy was approved by the Federal Highway Administration
on August 24, 2007.

sources, such as a vacuum cleaner, and outdoor noise sources,
such as a diesel truck. The chart ranges from 0 to 140 decibels.
