The Environmental Planning Group provides technical expertise to evaluate noise impacts incurred by highway improvement projects. Specialized noise modeling is conducted for those projects that increase traffic capacity, or that have changes in the vertical and/or horizontal alignment.
ADOT has been the leader in providing noise abatement mitigation that utilize the latest techniques in construction and design. The photo on the left is part of an extensive system of noise walls for the new Loop 101 Freeway in Scottsdale, which are adorned with southwestern motifs to provide a functional and aesthetically pleasing wall that enhances the surrounding development.
The Guidelines in the right-hand column provide information to help the consultant or local government representative conduct accurate noise analyses. Included is the ADOT Noise Policy and related noise information.
