This part of the Safe Routes to Schools (SRTS) project addresses its overall design from initial concepts and project scoping to final bid documents including plans, estimates, and bid manual with technical specifications. Project development also covers activities affecting the design of the SRTS project, which includes surveying and mapping; utility and right-of-way activities and clearances; the environmental determination; geotechnical and materials investigations including reports and recommendations; and drainage analysis, studies and recommendations. Project development is typically done by design and environmental consultants or the project sponsor in-house.
