Arizona Rail Safety and Security Resource Guide (2008) State of Arizona Railroad Inventory & Assessment (2007)
The Arizona Department of Transportation retained R.L. Banks and Associates to develop the State of Arizona 2007 Railroad Inventory and Assessment. The purpose of this effort was to provide an overview of the current existing rail network of Arizona railroads as they exist today. This includes all Class I, short line, mining, terminal/switching and tourist railroad operations. This is the first such railroad inventory for the State of Arizona since 2000. The results of this study will be included in MAG's upcoming commuter rail study in 2007-2008. MAG Commuter Rail Strategic Plan (2006-2008) MAG and ADOT are jointly embarking on a strategic planning process to assess the feasibility and to develop an implementation strategy for commuter rail service in the Phoenix metropolitan area and adjacent areas.
