Nogales Transit Feasibility Review and Implementation Study

The Arizona Department of Transportation, Multimodal Planning Division awarded Nelson/Nygaard Consulting Associates a contract to conduct a Transit Feasibility Review and Implementation Plan Project for the Nogales, Arizona region. The Joint Project includes two partners, the City of Nogales and the Arizona Department of Transportation, Multimodal Planning Division. The City of Nogales is responsible for 20% of the total cost of the $60,000 study.  Nelson/Nygaard will conduct a detailed analysis to determine the transit needs of the region.  Included in the analysis will be a series of bilingual stakeholder meetings and public workshops, as well as the development of a transit operating plan and service profile. The final product will include a plan for the City to begin public transit services.  The project began in April and will conclude in October. The Transit Feasibility Review and Implementation Plan will be included in the City's application for Federal Transit Administration funding in January 2007. The City’s goal is to initiate transit services within the region in 2008.
