Intermodal Transportation Division Technical Training ~ ITD Tech
ITD Tech would like to provide and assist employees within ITD with all of your technical training needs. In order for training to be a success, please observe the following guidelines below when requesting technical training.
All training requests must be submitted using the appropriate request form as described below either in hardcopy via fax at 602-712-3007 or electronically to Annie Parris, Technical Training Manager, by the identified District or Group Training Specialist (coordinator) only.
*Please Note*:
Please allow a minimum of 5 business days after you have submitted a request to receive authorization (signed approval from ITD Tech Director or Manager) for reimbursement of training expenses for ITD Technical Training funds, for either Training Materials or On-Demand Training.
If approved, the approval is only for the funds. The procurement of the Training Materials or On-Demand training is the responsibility of the requestor. Please plan accordingly when submitting a request: minimum of 5 business days for approval as well as an appropriate timeframe to work within the procurement system, essentially for those instances where the request exceeds $999.
You as the requestor are required to comply with all ADOT policies and procedures and Procurement rules. ITD Tech is only responsible for those procurements that we directly handle. Any failure on your part to follow normal procurement processes will be your responsibility, not that of ITD Tech. ITD Tech will reimburse funds through approved for training materials or activities only when previously approved through the proper process.
Training Requests
ITD Tech Course Request Form
This request form is to request a course(s) brought to your district/group. You choose location and usually fill the majority of the course with employees from your district/group. When requesting a course, please provide, if known, course title, vendor, number of participants for the course from your group. If a course does not exist within Registrar, but a training need does, please describe, to the best of your ability, the objectives needed and we will work with you to research an existing course in the industry.
The Technical Training Manager, Annie Parris, will work closely with you, the training coordinator, to identify appropriate courses. We will also work with you for desired delivery date. All course administration will be the responsibility of ITD Tech. Please keep in mind the following when requesting a course:
Participants
Each course that ITD Tech coordinates has different minimum and maximum number of attendants. In order for a request to be processed you should be able to fill the minimum amount. Of course there are exceptions due to different circumstances. For example, if you have a significant amount of people, but can not meet the minimum, we will advertise this course to surrounding areas to help fill the course. A course is subject to cancellation if the minimum requirements are not fulfilled two weeks prior to the scheduled course. To avoid cancellation, ITD highly recommends early registration.
Training Vendors
ADOT Procurement Policy requires any training provider to be a vendor in the ADOT Procurement System. If the course is over $999.00 the vendor must be on contract. Therefore, it may take longer to coordinate given time to work through the procurement process. Another option is to find a substitution for the initial request that meets the above terms.
National Highway Institute
There are a few guidelines that need to be addressed in order to proceed with a NHI Course. When requesting the course through ITD Tech the requesting group needs to be able to fill the course with a minimum of 20 people in order for the class to be held. When a course is submitted to NHI it can take from a few months to a year to receive conformation for that course. This is important to keep in mind if you are trying to plan for the different times of year.
ITD Tech Materials Request Form
ITD Tech, when possible, would like to assist your district/group as much as possible to receive the required/needed technical training. Often this includes supporting the Regional trainers, or training coordinators in various, untraditional ways. For example, the purchase of safety manuals or other training materials. Please plan in-advance when requesting materials. If approved, you will be responsible for ordering the materials. DO NOT assume ITD Tech will reimburse all requests. Only requests approved in advance by either Erika
Blankenship, Program Director or Annie Parris, Program Manager will be reimbursed.
Please see note above.
ITD Tech On-Demand Request Form
Often it is not appropriate or cost effective to bring a full course to your district/org or even to Arizona. If there is a specialty course offered by an outside vendor that would greatly impact the work duties or responsibilities of an employee within your district or group, please fill out the On-Demand Technical Training Request Form. Please indicate benefits to sending an employee to outside training.
If approved, the requestor will be responsible for all registration and procurement activities and ITD Tech will reimburse you org. Travel will not be reimbursed by ITD Tech and out of state travel must be approved by the State Engineer's Office. Only approved requests will be reimbursed.
Reimbursement to Org/Certification
Reimbursements will be completed for approved requests as well as REQUIRED certifications. If testing is required for certification, ITD Tech will only reimburse the first attempt at testing. Additional testing must be paid for by the employees org or until significant efforts have been made and documented to improve performance/knowledge in the identified technical area.
Thank you for working with ITD Tech. We will work closely with you to ensure your technical training needs are met.
