For ADOT’s design and construction document preparation, each project is developed through multiple design and review stages. These required steps encourages a systematic approach to develop comprehensive design and construction documents. These stages are broken out into: Stage I (15%) detailed in the Preparing Project Assessments Web page, Stage II (30%), Stage III (60%), Stage IV (95%) and Stage V (Final PS&E). Below is a summary of the stages and the key components of each stage.
More in depth guidance is available in the Documents Required for Design Phase Submittal, as shown in the Project Development Documents Web page, along with a summary checklist. Designers and other users should follow the policies, procedures, and guidelines; as well as other guidance and principles provided by AASHTO and other publications.
