The Safe Routes to School (SRTS) FTP site is designed for customers
to upload files that would otherwise be too large to send by email.
With the correct logon information, users can upload large documents
from their computer whether at home, consultant’s office, or as far
away as Sydney, Australia.
Below are instructions for accessing the FTP Site for:
Windows PC
To logon, please do the following steps:
- Please call the SRTS Project Manager (from the Contact List download) for the user name and password.
- On your PC, open Windows Explorer.
Windows Explorer (from Windows XP)
For Windows XP: Start > Programs > Accessories > Windows Explorer
For Vista and Windows 7: Start > All Programs > Accessories > Windows Explorer
Do not use Internet Explorer browser.
Internet Explorer (do not use)
- Enter this complete address in the address bar of Windows Explorer: ftp://ftp.azdot.gov
- You will be prompted to logon to the site with the user name and password.
- After logging on, you will see a window with dozens of folders. Scroll to the folder 'TESR'. Open that folder. You will then see the folder 'Safe Routes to School'. Open that folder.
- Upload your file(s) to the 'Safe Routes to School' folder (files cannot be deleted once they are uploaded).
- Contact the SRTS Project Manager by phone or email that the file(s) has been uploaded.

Mac OS X
- Please call the SRTS Project Manager (from the Contact List download) for the user name and password.
- An FTP client application will be required to access the FTP. The open source client Filezilla will be used as an example on this Web page.
- Download and install Filezilla for Mac OS X. Launch the application.
- Near the top of the Filezilla window, there are three fields to input: Host, Username, and Password. For the Host field, enter ftp.azdot.gov. Enter the Username and Password obtained from the SRTS Project Manager. After inputing the above, click the button Quickconnect.
- Inside the Filezilla window, there are two columns: Local
site and Remote Site. The Local site lists
the files stored on your computer's hard drive. The Remote site lists
the files on the ADOT FTP site.
Filezilla (for Mac OS X)
- In the Remote site column, you will see dozens of folders. Scroll to the folder 'TESR'. Open that folder. You will then see the folder 'Safe Routes to School'. Open that folder.
- To upload, click and drag the file(s) from the Local site column to the Remote site column (files cannot be deleted on the Remote site column once they are uploaded).
- Contact the SRTS Project Manager by phone or email that the file(s) has been uploaded.

Troubleshooting
If you are having difficulty logging onto the FTP site:
- Reread the instructions carefully to make sure all steps have been followed.
- If logon difficulty persists, call the ADOT Help Desk at 602.712.7249.
