Planned Improvements
The following improvements are planned on State Route 74:

Project: Passing Lane, Milepost 20-22
Schedule: Construction is anticipated to begin in 2008.

  • Project summary: A passing lane will be installed from Milepost 20-22 (approximately 2 miles west of Lake Pleasant Parkway).

Project: Passing Lane, Milepost 13-15
Schedule: Construction is anticipated to begin in 2010.

  • Project summary: A passing lane will be installed from Milepost 13-15 (just east of 171st/Cotton Lane).

The Regional Transportation Plan (RTP) also includes funding to preserve right of way along SR 74 as needed to accommodate possible future widening of the roadway and possible traffic interchange locations. The study will identify the needed property along SR 74 from US 60 to Lake Pleasant Parkway (Milepost 0-22), based on the footprint of the ultimate potential roadway. Purchase of any property along SR 74 will be contingent on a federal environmental process.
