Loop 303, US 60 (Grand Avenue) to Happy Valley Parkway
Public Scoping Meeting

The Arizona Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration have initiated a study to develop design concept options for improving the existing four-lane divided roadway on Loop 303 between US 60 (Grand Avenue) and Happy Valley Parkway.

Initial and ultimate improvement alternatives will be considered in converting the divided roadway into a freeway, as outlined in the Maricopa Association of Government’s Regional Transportation Plan Freeway Program. Alternatives will also be considered regarding a future interchange at Loop 303 and El Mirage Road.

ADOT and FHWA invited the public to attend public scoping meetings in May to learn about and comment on the proposed improvements. The comments will allow ADOT to gather public input to assist in the identification of issues and concerns that need to be addressed during the study.

Loop 303 (Interstate 10 to US 60)

Public Hearings - 10/21/08 and 10/22/08

The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), in coordination with the Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG), are evaluating proposed improvements to Loop 303 from Interstate 10 to US 60 (Grand Avenue).

The purpose of the public hearing was to provide information about the recommended alternative and its potential environmental impacts and to receive public comments on the Draft Environmental Assessment (EA).

Recommended improvements to the segment of Loop 303 from I-10 to US 60 include:

  • Widening the roadway to 10 lanes (four general purpose and one high occupancy vehicle lane in each direction) in its ultimate configuration;
  • Constructing drainage improvements;
  • Building system traffic interchanges to connect Loop 303 with I-10 and the proposed Northern Parkway;
  • Constructing 15 traffic interchanges along Loop 303 at major cross streets; Implementing full access control
