Project timeline
1985: Voters approve building the South Mountain Freeway.

2004: Voters approve funding for the freeway.

2005-06: ADOT studies possible locations for the freeway.

April 27: The South Mountain Freeway Citizens Advisory Team will make a recommendation on a preferred alignment.

Summer: ADOT will decide on a preferred alignment.

2009: Construction to start.

2015: Construction to end.
