Tribe
wants a 1-way street

Regarding "Indians request freeway upgrades" (Republic,
Sunday):
I am a shocked at the Gila River Indian Community's audacity to ask the state
for improvements to Interstate 10 after it has stonewalled discussions on the
Loop 202. The tribe has even asked for frontage roads to be built at taxpayer
expense, for the sole purpose of development that will benefit only their tax
base.
I say, no way.
Only if the reservation allows the state to route the South Mountain Freeway on
the northern fringes of its reservation should the state even consider the
tribe's requests. - Aaron Riley, Phoenix
