Ideas to keep traffic moving
West Valley View

To the editor:
303?!? Oh, of course! ADOT, MCDOT, MAG and state officials are so concerned about meeting the needs of the West Valley that the future promise of the 303 is pitched every press release to appease all the yokels dumb enough to live on that side of town.

Here’s a suggestion from just another bumpkin on what you can do to really help us out of this jam on I-10:

1. Finish the 202 South Mountain (even if the Ahwatukeeans just can’t bear the thought of those truckers so near).

2. Build an east-west expressway. (Make it a “‘toll road,”‘ make it a “‘super-street,”‘ just don’t wait 10 years to start it and 20 to finish it).

3. Get a couple of engines, a couple of passenger cars and lease rights on existing rails that already run from Buckeye to Phoenix. (Light rail downtown but no commuter rail to it? Are you guys on dope?)

4. Actually do something with the 10 from Dysart to SR85 (since it was built 20 years ago nothing has been done to improve existing problems; thanks for the occasional trash pick up and pothole filling, though).

5. Grand Avenue/Hwy. 60 westside Superstition Fwy./Hwy. 60 eastside (same road? Sorry, let’s not even go there, we can see who has the power).

6. Now, build the 303 for all the developers (so it can help West Valley commuters the same way the 101 did by dumping more commuters on the 10). Great, that’s it.

I hope these ideas are helpful and I’m sure the best interest of all us westsiders is paramount in your planning and politics will play no role in all your decision-making. Thanks for all the forward thinking, especially with my tax dollars, guys!
