ADOT continually
plans for enhancements to the roadway once it is built and in use
for maximum efficiency and safety. Various studies identify these
enhancements and may influence additional planning, design and construction.

Project: Loop 101 (Pima Freeway)
Princess Drive to Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) General
Purpose Lanes
Overview:
The project is a Design Concept Report/Environmental Study
to construct general purpose lanes on Loop 101 (Pima Freeway)
from Princess Drive to Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway). The
project is approximately 15 miles and will pass through the
City of Scottsdale and Salt River Pima Maricopa Indian Community.
An environmental document and related technical reports will
be developed in concert with this design concept study for
this project. The documents will include an evaluation of
traffic noise impacts and proposed mitigation.
Modifications to the signing, pavement markings, freeway management
system (FMS), and lighting to accommodate the additional lanes
will be evaluated during this study.
Schedule: Study was initiated in February
2008 and may take approximately 18 months.
A map and contact information are available on the Design
