Overnight closures planned on I-17 this weekend
More ramp closures this week at Carefree, Jomax and Dixileta
Last week, I-17 traffic began shifting to newly-completed lanes in the northbound direction. This week that shift occurs southbound as well. This will require temporary lane restrictions and several interchange ramp closures, some of which will be closed for several months, to complete the new outside freeway lanes.

Deer Valley Road
Thursday, June 25 – Friday, June 26

11 p.m. – 4 a.m.
Eastbound Deer Valley Road will be closed nightly for work on the I-17 overpass. Traffic will be detoured either at 27th Avenue or the frontage road and then south to Rose Garden Lane and can then return to Deer Valley Road on the northbound frontage road.
I-17 between Jomax and Happy Valley roads
Thursday, June 25 – Friday, June 26
10 p.m. – 5 a.m.
Southbound I-17 will be restricted to one lane overnight between Jomax and Happy Valley roads Thursday night through Friday, June 26, morning for work on the I-17 widening project.
I-17 at Happy Valley and Jomax roads
Saturday, June 27
The southbound on-ramp at Jomax Road and the southbound off-ramp at Happy Valley Road will RE-OPEN to traffic by Saturday morning following prior closures for work on the I-17 widening project.

Friday, June 26 – Saturday, June 27
10 p.m. – 7 a.m.
Southbound I-17 will be CLOSED overnight between Jomax and Happy Valley roads from Friday night until the morning of Saturday, June 27, for work on the I-17 widening project. During the closure southbound traffic will be detoured onto the frontage road and re-enter I-17 at Happy Valley Road.
I-17 at Carefree Highway
Friday, June 26 – Sunday, June 28
10 p.m. – 7 a.m.
Southbound I-17 will be CLOSED overnight at Carefree Highway from the night of Friday, June 26 until the morning of Saturday, June 27 at 7 a.m. for work on the I-17 widening project. During the closure, southbound I-17 traffic will be detoured onto the interchange ramps at Carefree Highway. When the I-17 closure is complete early Saturday morning, the southbound I-17 on-ramp at Carefree Highway will then be CLOSED until Sunday, June 28 at 5 a.m. During the ramp closure, drivers can take I-17 north to Pioneer Road to access southbound I-17.

Friday, June 26 – fall 2009
Beginning Friday night until fall 2009, the southbound I-17 loop on-ramp from westbound Carefree Highway will be CLOSED for work related to the I-17 widening project. During the closure, drivers may use the other southbound on-ramp from Carefree Highway.

Beginning the night of Friday, June 26 until fall 2009, the southbound I-17 on-ramp at Dixileta Drive will be CLOSED for work related to the I-17 widening project. During the closure, drivers may use the southbound frontage road to access southbound I-17 at Jomax Road.

Beginning the night of Friday, June 26 until fall 2009, the southbound I-17 off-ramp at Jomax Road will be CLOSED for work related to the I-17 widening project. During the closure, drivers may exit I-17 at Happy Valley Road and return north on I-17 or the northbound frontage road to access Jomax Road.

Southbound I-17 narrowed to one lane between Deer Valley Road and Union Hills Drive to move temporary concrete barrier. The southbound ramps from Loop 101 will be closed and traffic will be detoured at 19th and 35th avenues south Union Hills Drive to access I-17. The Rose Garden Lane on-ramp also will be detoured to Union Hills Drive.

Deer Valley Road will be closed for work on the I-17 overpass. Eastbound traffic will be detoured either at 27th Avenue or the frontage road and then south to Rose Garden Lane and can then return to Deer Valley Road on the northbound frontage road. Westbound traffic will be detoured either at 19th Ave or the frontage road and then north to Pinnacle Peak Road and can return to Deer Valley Road on the southbound frontage road.

Through early July
Deer Valley Road will be restricted to one lane in both directions at I-17 through early July for work on the new I-17 overpass bridge.
I-17 at Happy Valley and Jomax roads
Until June 21
The northbound I-17 entrance ramp at Happy Valley Road and the northbound I-17 exit ramp at Jomax Road will be closed until June 21 to construct new outside lanes for the I-17 widening project. Detour: traffic will be detoured onto the northbound frontage road at Happy Valley Road to enter I-17 at Jomax Road; northbound I-17 traffic can exit at Happy Valley Road and use the northbound frontage road to access Jomax Road.

Until June 26
The southbound I-17 off-ramp at Happy Valley Road and on-ramp at Jomax Road will be closed until June 26. Southbound I-17 drivers can exit at Jomax Road and use the southbound frontage road to access Happy Valley Road; drivers on eastbound Jomax Road can use the southbound frontage road and enter I-17 at Happy Valley Road.
I-17 on-ramp at Deer Valley Road
Through late 2009
The northbound I-17 on-ramp at Deer Valley Road will be closed until late 2009 for construction related to the I-17 widening project. Drivers can use the northbound I-17 entrance ramps at Pinnacle Peak Road and Yorkshire Drive/Utopia Road (starting Jan. 12 when the ramp reopens) as alternate routes.

Through Fall 2009
The southbound I-17 off-ramp at Deer Valley Road will be closed through fall 2009 for work related to the I-17 widening project. Southbound traffic will exit at Pinnacle Peak Road and use the southbound frontage road to access Deer Valley Road.
Loop 101 at I-17
Through mid 2009
The ramps from Loop 101 to southbound I-17 and from northbound I-17 to Loop 101 are restricted to one lane until mid 2009 for construction activities related to the widening project.
I-17 from Yorkshire to Union Hills drives
The southbound I-17 entrance between Yorkshire and Union Hills drives has been permanently closed as part of the widening project. Traffic on the southbound frontage road will continue south to Union Hills Drive to access the southbound I-17 on-ramp. View map

The southbound I-17 frontage road will be restricted to one lane just south of Yorkshire Drive for work related to the I-17 widening project. This restriction will be in place through summer 2009.
I-17 at Deer Valley Road
The northbound I-17 off-ramp at Deer Valley Road is permanently closed to improve traffic flow on I-17 near the system interchange with Loop 101. Northbound I-17 traffic will exit at Rose Garden Lane and use the northbound frontage road to access Deer Valley Road. Ramps from Loop 101 will provide access to either northbound I-17 or Deer Valley Road as part of the completed project in 2009. View map
In addition, the southbound I-17 loop entrance ramp at Deer Valley Road is closed for construction. Drivers can use the additional southbound I-17 entrance ramp at this location. During reconstruction of the interchange, drivers can use 19th, 27th or 35th avenues to access Loop 101 from Deer Valley Road. View map
I-17 from Rose Garden Lane to Happy Valley Road
Through summer 2009
The I-17 frontage roads are restricted to one lane for construction of the new frontage roads and I-17 widening project. This restriction will be in place through summer 2009.
While ADOT strives to inform the public about planned freeway restrictions, during any complex construction project, there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Please visit our Web site for the most current information about planned and ongoing I-17 restrictions.
Drivers should anticipate delays and allow extra time, or adjust travel to avoid closures and restrictions. ADOT appreciates your patience as we construct improvements on I-17.
