| Budget: |
$30 million (construction) |
Project Details:
ADOT expects to begin construction in spring 2008 on a new traffic interchange at Lone Mountain Road to link Interstate 17 (Black Canyon Freeway) to the future Loop 303. The Lone Mountain Road interchange, which is approximately 2 miles south of SR 74 (Carefree Highway) will serve as the interim connection between I-17 and Loop 303 until completion of the freeway-to-freeway interchange.
As part of the first five-year phase of the Regional Transportation Plan, the Loop 303 will be extended west of I-17, initially as a four-lane divided highway.
Interstate 17 will be elevated by approximately 25 feet in this area to accommodate the future freeway-to-freeway traffic interchange. The elevated roadway will be constructed to accommodate three general purpose traffic lanes and one high occupancy vehicle lane in each direction.
Future frontage road configurations and access locations are being considered as part of the project.

Traffic Management During Construction:
ADOT plans to construct a four-lane detour to carry I-17 traffic around the construction zone.
