Bridge: The Bridge Group is responsible for the effective use of modern technology and resources for furnishing bridge design, bridge construction assistance, and bridge management necessary to provide and maintain safe and functional bridges and drainage facilities on Arizona highways.
Engineering Technical: their mission is to provide high quality and on-time products and services, employing the best available resources and methods, in support of ADOT's vision, mission and goals. The products and services are provided by employees working in the following sections: Engineering Survey, Utility and Railroad Engineering, Engineering Consultants, Contracts and Specifications, and Value Analysis.
Environmental Planning: is responsible for implementing and maintaining an environmental planning program for ADOT in compliance with State and Federal environmental laws and regulations to obtain appropriate environmental approval for proposed State and local government Federal-aid highway projects and State-funded highway projects. They also research and evaluate social, economic, and environmental impacts of proposed highway projects and prepare and process the necessary environmental documents including mitigation for identified impacts.
Right of Way: acquires all real property rights necessary for construction and maintenance of the State highway system to include rights of way, maintenance facilities and other transportation related real estate requirements; provides relocation services to displaced persons and businesses; manages real property assets.
Roadway Engineering: is responsible for providing scoping, documents for roadway and roadside projects authorized by the State Transportation Board or State Engineer. They are also responsible for designing many of these projects and developing construction plans and related documents.
Statewide Project Management: provides for the management of projects in the Five-Year Highway Construction Program. The Group also provides technical planning, engineering liaison, and coordination to all local agencies participating in local government federal-aid highway projects. They provide management information about development schedules.
Traffic Engineering: establishes formal traffic engineering policies, guidelines and procedures; designs and prepares plans, specification and estimates for signs, lighting, and traffic control plans; and maintains signing on the Freeway System, manufacturers signs for the state highway system, maintains striping on about 75% of the state highway system, procures electrical components for signals and lighting systems, and sets up signal controllers for all new installations. Another key function is to maintain a traffic accident database for the entire state. |
