US 180 (Fort Valley Road) and Forest Avenue Intersection Safety Improvements

The Arizona Department of Transportation will construct a turn island and extend the sidewalk on US 180 (Fort Valley Road) and Forest Avenue to enhance safety for pedestrians. The project will include moving the right turn lane in order to create room for the turn island. The current curb and sidewalk will also be removed and replaced.

What to expect:

  • The project will begin on July 5, 2011 and is scheduled to be completed by end of August 2011.
  • Motorists traveling northbound on US 180 (Fort Valley Road) will not be able to turn right onto Forest Avenue during construction.
  • To access the businesses on Forest Avenue near US 180 (Fort Valley Road), motorists will have to take an alternate route because of the right turn restriction.
  • Bicyclists traveling on US 180 (Fort Valley Road) will need to ride carefully through the project area because of limited space.

There is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur due to weather and other unforeseen circumstances.
