The San Pedro River Bridge on State Route 90 in Cochise County is an important connection along the primary corridor between the communities of Sierra Vista, Tombstone and Bisbee. The bridge, constructed in 1955, is to be replaced by a new structure that features wider traffic lanes and shoulders that meet current standards and provide adequate space for vehicles – including emergency responders, bicycles and pedestrians.
The $7 million bridge replacement project is scheduled to begin October 1, 2012 and will include:
- Replace the existing 26-foot wide bridge with a new 44-foot wide bridge
- Two 12-foot traffic lanes and 10-foot shoulders in both directions
- Improving the roadway and bridge approaches
The project is scheduled to be completed by spring of 2014*.
