Paving and guardrail work on both exit and entrance of I-17 southbound at the Middle Verde TI will require periodic closures over the next week. All closures will be signed with well-marked detours. During off-ramp closures, traffic will detour to Camp Verde TI and northbound to Middle Verde TI. During on-ramp closures, traffic will detour to McGuireville TI to access I-17 southbound. Closures will be intermittent during overnight hours throughout the week.

  • Work began in early September 2008.

  • This project will remove the top layer of asphalt along the southbound lanes and replace it with a new layer of rubberized asphalt. Additionally, new pavement, striping and street lighting will be installed in the western-most roundabout at the middle Verde Traffic Interchange.

  • The contractor has 100 working days to complete the project, which means: if we are not interrupted by bad weather, we may be able to finish before the end of the year; if not, we will complete the paving in early 2009.

  • The majority of the work will be performed between the hours of 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. to minimize traffic impacts.

  • Motorists will experience reduced speeds, lane restrictions, and rough roads associated with milling operations..
