Overnight sign installation work scheduled at junction of Interstate 10 and State Route 90 through Tuesday morning

Striping work will require additional restrictions next week as well

November 9, 2012

The Arizona Department of Transportation will close the State Route 90 exit ramp on eastbound Interstate 10 shortly after midnight Tuesday, Nov. 13 to allow crews to install overhead signs at the newly constructed highway interchange.

The closure, which had originally been scheduled to occur this week, will go into effect after midnight and remain in effect until approximately 5 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13.

During the ramp closure, eastbound I-10 motorists wishing to access SR 90 will be detoured to Ocotillo Road (Exit 304), where they can exit and take westbound I-10 to return to the SR 90 interchange.

SR 90 south of the interstate will be closed briefly in both directions sometime between 2 and 3 a.m. to allow crews to install an overhead sign. That closure is expected to last approximately 20 minutes.

The left lane of both eastbound and westbound I-10 will be closed from a mile and a half before the SR 90 interchange to a mile and a half past it from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. to allow crews to work on pavement markers.

Striping work is scheduled daily from Wednesday, Nov. 14 through Saturday, Nov. 17 in the same area and motorists will experience moving closures while the striping machine is in use. The Department of Public Safety will be on-site and brief delays are expected.

The work is part of a $27.6 million project to construct the new overpass bridge, replace a curving section of interstate and widen SR 90 south of I-10.

ADOT advises drivers to proceed through the work zones with caution, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.

ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule.
