Repairs scheduled on right lane of eastbound Interstate 10 east of State Route 90 interchange through next week

Motorists wishing to access State Route 80 will be directed to a detour until work is completed

September 21, 2011

The Arizona Department of Transportation will be working on repairs to a section of the highway near Benson and has closed the right lane of eastbound Interstate 10 east of State Route 90 in Cochise County, including the exit onto State Route 80.

The stretch of I-10 from just east of SR 90 (Exit 302) east to Ocotillo Road (Exit 304) is being replaced in order to provide smoother travel for motorists. Work began on the right lane September 6 and crews were to begin replacing the left lane this week, however a section of the newly-constructed right lane needs additional work.

The right lane was closed again and traffic was moved back onto the left lane early today. In addition, the exit onto SR 80 (Exit 303) will be closed again temporarily until work is completed. Motorists wishing to access SR 80, which leads to Tombstone and Bisbee, should take the Ocotillo Avenue Exit instead.

Work to repair the damaged section of interstate is expected to be completed by the end of next week.

ADOT advises drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
