Lane closures on Interstate 10 near Benson begin Monday

Eastbound Interstate 10 will be reduced to one lane east of the State Route 90 in Cochise County on Monday (Sept. 19) and continuing around the clock until the end of the month while the Arizona Department of Transportation reconstructs a two-mile section of the interstate.
ADOT will close the left lane of eastbound I-10 from immediately east of the SR 90 interchange (Exit 302) to Ocotillo Road (Exit 304). The lane closure is scheduled to remain in effect until Friday (Sept. 30) for reconstruction work along that portion of highway.
During this phase of construction, traffic will eventually be switched over to the right lane, which has been closed for reconstruction since Sept. 6. When traffic is moved onto the right lane, the I-10 exit ramp onto State Route 80, which has been closed for the past two weeks, will reopen.
The speed limit will be reduced to 45 mph in the closure area, including weekends when crews will not be working.
The work, part of the $27.6 million ADOT project to replace the traffic interchange at I-10 and SR 90, is intended to provide a smoother driving experience for motorists.
ADOT advises drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule.
