The Arizona Department of Transportation will pave the shoulder of eastbound Interstate 10 west of the junction with State Route 90 in Benson on Friday, July 6.
Motorists traveling east on I-10 in western Cochise County will encounter a right-lane closure from 6 a.m. until 3 p.m. beginning approximately one mile west of the interchange at SR 90 (Exit 302).
During the closure, crews will pave the roadway shoulder where a temporary off ramp had been located. The posted speed limit in the work area will be 55 mph.
The work is part of ADOT's $27.6 million project to replace the I-10 overpass at SR 90, realign the highway west of the overpass and make improvements to SR 90 south of the interchange. The project is scheduled for completion in fall 2012.
ADOT advises drivers to proceed through the work zones with caution, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule.
