Lane closures scheduled for Interstate 10 at State Route 90 interchange on Thursday and Monday

Restrictions needed to allow delivery of bridge construction materials

Traffic on westbound Interstate 10 will be restricted to one lane at the interchange with State Route 90 on Thursday (June 9) to allow delivery of construction supplies for the on-going project to replace the overpass near Benson.

The left lane of westbound I-10 will be closed from one mile east of the junction with SR 90 to the interchange at Exit 302 between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. to allow the delivery of steel rebar cages that will be used to reinforce the concrete columns that will support the new overpass bridge.

On Monday (June 13) from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m., the left lane of eastbound I-10 will be closed in the same area to allow delivery of additional construction supplies.

Motorists can expect reduced speed limits for both lane closures, with westbound reduced to 45 mph Thursday and eastbound reduced to 55 mph for Monday’s closure.

The work is part of the $27.6 million Arizona Department of Transportation project to replace the interchange and straighten more than a mile of curves in I-10 west of the Cochise County interchange.

ADOT advises drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
