UPDATED: Construction activity continues on Interstate 10 at State Route 90 near Benson all next week

March 5, 2012

Motorists traveling on Interstate 10 near Benson will encounter lane restrictions next week as the Arizona Department of Transportation continues work on replacing the overpass at State Route 90 and constructing new interstate lanes.

Left lane closures are scheduled for both eastbound and westbound I-10 at the SR 90 traffic interchange (Exit 302) to allow crews access to the work area, where new eastbound lanes are under construction.

The left lane of eastbound I-10 will be closed daily between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. from Monday (March 5) through Friday (March 9) beginning one mile west of the overpass at SR 90 and continuing for approximately two miles.

The left lane of westbound I-10 also will be closed daily for one mile from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday starting at Exit 302.

The work is part of ADOT's $27.6 million project to construct a new overpass on I-10 at SR 90 in Cochise County, replace a segment of curves in the interstate west of the overpass and make improvements to SR 90.

ADOT advises drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
